When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and password (encrypted).
We store your estimate conversations to provide the service. Signed-in users can view their saved estimates.
When you use the estimator, we keep the job you describe, the estimate we give you and any feedback you leave, such as whether the price was about right. We use this to improve the estimator.
To stop the free estimator being misused, we turn your IP address into a scrambled code, so we never store the address itself. We store that code with your estimates and use it to apply usage limits and to count how many people use the estimator.
Like most websites, our web server also keeps a standard access log, including IP addresses, for a limited time for security.
We use your data to provide the estimating service, manage your account, process payments via Stripe, and improve the accuracy of our AI estimates. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
Eric may email you personally to ask how close your estimate was. If you tick "Happy for Eric to get in touch about tools for my business", he may also tell you about the websites he builds for tradespeople. Untick it in Account or use the unsubscribe link at any time.
Signing in stores a session in your browser (local storage), which is essential for the account features to work. Analytics cookies — Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, used to see how the estimator is used and where it loses people — are set only if you press Accept on the cookie banner. Reject and nothing is set; you can change your choice at any time from "Cookie settings" in the footer. Your first-touch referrer and campaign parameters are kept in session storage for the length of your visit and sent with an estimate request so we can see where estimates come from. We do not use advertising cookies.
We use Supabase for authentication and data storage (hosted in EU), Stripe for payment processing, Anthropic (Claude AI) for estimate generation, and Resend to send email. Each of these services has their own privacy policy.
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us. To exercise any of these rights, email eric@cornerstonedigital.co.uk.
