Central Heating Installation Cost UK 2026

New radiators, pipework, boiler and controls — what a full central heating system costs.

Installing a new central heating system or replacing an old one is a major project but makes an enormous difference to comfort and energy bills. A modern condensing boiler with properly sized radiators and a smart thermostat can cut your heating bills by 20 to 30 percent compared to an older system.

Full system (2-bed flat, 6 radiators + combi boiler)£3,500 – £5,500
Full system (3-bed semi, 8 radiators + combi boiler)£4,500 – £7,000
Full system (4-bed detached, 12 radiators + system boiler)£6,000 – £9,500
Replace radiators only (3-bed, 8 radiators)£2,000 – £3,500

What is included

A full central heating installation covers the boiler, all radiators with thermostatic valves, pipework throughout the house, a programmer or smart thermostat, a magnetic system filter, chemical flush of the system, and all Gas Safe certification. It does not usually include making good the walls where pipework has been routed.

Smart controls

Smart thermostats like Hive, Nest, or Tado cost £150 to £250 supply and install. They allow you to control heating from your phone, learn your routine, and optimise energy usage. Most Gas Safe engineers can fit them as part of a boiler installation for a small additional charge. Zoned heating with individual room control is becoming increasingly popular and costs £300 to £600 extra for a smart TRV system.
